Insects
If you know the name of the insect on your plants, you
can get suggestions on how to treat it by using the links at the side. If
you are unsure of the insects name, please check out our
insect matrix
for a list of problems and a guide as to what might be causing the problem.
We are able to diagnose insect or pest problems on your
plants, however, we do need to see a sample of the damage and will ask you
some questions. Check out our
diagnostic page for assistance on how to bring samples to the nursery
for evaluation.
If you have an insect problem, you may want to plant flowering plants
that attract beneficial insects as these will help you reduce the problem insect population. The flowering plants we have listed
below will attract beneficial insects and will give them food and shelter.
The plants can be integrated into borders or planted around the garden. Plan your
garden to incorporate these plants for beneficial insects. Also, try and
plan your garden so that you have some plants in flower throughout the year.
Coriander (Coriandrum sativum)
Coreopsis
Cosmos (Cosmos bipannatus)
Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima)
Yarrow (Achillea)
If you're experiencing a problem with a plant you
