Leptospurmum or Tea Tree
Botanical name - Leptospurmum

Common name - Tea Tree
Description - Evergreen shrubs or trees
Sunset zone(s) - 14-24 unless noted for the species
Exposure - Full sun
Water requirements - Little or no water to moderate water once established
General Information - Most species have five-petaled single flowers, almost
like small wild roses, along the branches and amidst the small leaves. Flowers
are typically red, pink or white. Leptospurmum thrive in seacoast conditions.
However, they do need well-drained soil. Poor drainage will result in root rot. Leptospurmum require minimum pruning.
Popular species - Gaiety Girl, Helene Strybing.
Nursery Notes - Leptospurmum require little or no water once
the plant is established in the ground. However, they need consistent watering
when they are in their containers and when they have recently been transplanted. You should be consistent and
frequent with your watering if you plant Leptospurmum in the ground at least
for the first 6 months or until the plant is established.
