Cambria Nursery, a premier destination garden center on California’s stunning Central Coast, is looking for a General Manager to lead our team and nurture our sprawling retail oasis.Located in the heart of Cambria, our nursery is more than just a shop—it’s a multi-acre botanical experience featuring themed gardens, a curated gift shop and thriving event space. We need a visionary leader who can balance the art of horticulture with the precision of retail management.

The RoleAs the Manager, you will be the heartbeat of the nursery. You’ll oversee daily operations, lead a diverse team of plant enthusiasts, and ensure our grounds remain a “must-visit” destination for locals and tourists alike.Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and inspire a knowledgeable staff. Foster a culture of expert advice and “over-the-top” customer service.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage inventory levels, seasonal buying, and visual merchandising to keep the nursery looking vibrant year-round.
  • Business Growth: Analyze sales data, manage budgets, and develop marketing strategies to drive foot traffic and increase revenue.
  • Customer Experience: Maintain the aesthetic standards of our display gardens and ensure every guest leaves with the confidence to grow.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the nursery at local events and maintain our reputation as a cornerstone of the Cambria community.

Who You Are

  • The Horticultural Expert: You know your succulents from your perennials and understand the unique microclimates of the Central Coast.
  • The Retail Pro: You have 3-5 years of management experience in a high-volume retail environment (nursery or garden center experience is highly preferred).
  • The Problem Solver: You stay calm under pressure, whether you’re managing a busy holiday weekend or troubleshooting irrigation issues.
  • The People Person: You genuinely enjoy connecting with customers and mentoring your team.
